Former president of the Football Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elvedin Dino Begić, passed away today at the age of 64.
Begić was born on October 24th 1960 in Sarajevo. He graduated from the Faculty of Transport in Sarajevo and had been employed at Sarajevo Airport (SJJ) since 1983, where he served as executive manager of traffic. Since 1979, he was actively involved with FK Butmir footbal club, serving as its president from 1996 to 2004 and later as a member of the club’s management.
As a sports official, he was a delegate in the Sarajevo Canton FA Assembly, a member of the SCFA presidential body, and a member of the FFBiH Committee for Security and Stadiums. On September 17th 2012, he was elected president of Sarajevo Canton FA. On April 18th 2011, he was appointed to the FIFA-elected FFBiH Normalization Committee. He also served as the first vice-president of UEFA's Stadium and Security Committee.
Begić was president of FFBiH from late 2012 to 2020. During his tenure, the BiH national team qualified for the World Cup for the first time.
