UEFA European Under-17 Championship, which is being held in Croatia, officially started today with four matches from Groups A and B. This is Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team's second Euro in a row, and tomorrow they are going to play the first match against Germany at 12:00 hours in Kostrena. Besides those two teams, Republic of Ireland and Serbia were seeded to Group C.
Last year in Azerbaijan, Bosnian team was the only debutant, while this year there are two: Faroe Islands and Norway. England has the most appearances (12), followed by France, Netherlands and Spain (11). Portugal, France, England, Netherlands, Spain and Russia won the championship two times, while no country managed to win three titles. Most finals were played by Spain (6).
22 players from BiH cadet team participated in the qualifiers. Players with most caps (6) in our teams are Rijad Sadiku, Dobrica Tegeltija, Jusuf Gazibegović, Armin Imamović, Stefan Santrač and Eldin Omerović. Milan Šikanjić is the best scorer with two (2) goals, followed by Tegeltija, Omerović and Elvis Mehanović with one (1) goal each.
Today's results: Spain vs. Turkey 3-2, Italy vs. Croatia 1-0 (Group A), Scotland vs. Faroe Islands 2-0, Hungary vs. France 3-2 (Group B).
