Yesterday was held a meeting in the Training Centre of the Football Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Zenica, attended by representatives of the clubs of the BH Premier Youth League, members of the FF BH Committee for Youth Football, a representative of the Committee for Referees and Refereeing and the Committee for Competitions, as well as members of the Federation’s administration.
It was discussed on the meeting on the organization of the PYL matches, and the obligations that clubs must fulfil in the licensing process, which refer to youth football.
It was noted that the FF BH has done a lot in recent years in affirmation and development of youth football, which especially refers to the organization of the unique youth leagues in three age-levels (U-19, U-17 and U-15). Also, there is an evident progress in the work of higher number of clubs with their young players, compared to previous seasons. The results of the U-17 team, which was twice a participant at the final round of the European U-17 Championship, followed by the U-19 team and the FK “Željezničar” U-19 squad in the UEFA Youth League, confirm that BH youth football is becoming better and more competitive in the European context.
At the same time, the problems related to the infrastructure conditions for training and playing matches were also emphasized. Certain problems, related to the transition of young players from youth categories to senior competition, were also underlined, where they often do not get enough room to play. In this regard, certain modalities have been proposed to overcome these problems, and this will be discussed at a new meeting which will be scheduled in the upcoming period.
