Another qualification cycle has ended for Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team, this time for 2016 European Championship in France. Unfortunately, our team didn't succeed in defeating Republic of Ireland in the play-offs, and at the same time bring happiness to BIH citizens and loyal fans.
Despite all the efforts by the Football Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina to stabilize the situation within the national team after the initial losses, the desired result wasn't there in the end. After Mehmed Bazdarevic's arrival at the position of a head coach, situation got better. Unfortunately, combined with other adverse circumstances, our team played below its ablilities in the play-offs.
Understandably, after the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, FFBIH and the fans expected success in the European Championship qualifying season. Since that didn't happen, coach, players and staff would like to express regret, but also a gratitude to our true fans, media and sponsors who supported the team throughout all victories and defeats, including the most recent and most painful one in Dublin.
However, both victories and defeats are integral parts of football. European Championship qualifications will be analyzed in detail and the conclusions incorporated in future plans. At the same time, FFBIH has already started working on the new commitments and projects.
There's a complete unity throughout FFBIH and the desire to preserve a stable atmosphere which characterized its work for the past several years. It turned out this approach brings results, which was evident in the World Cup qualifying, partially in Euro qualifying, and progress of our own BIH Premier League.
We intend to preserve that kind of relationship in the future through strategic work programs and important objectives. Members of our organization have a clear idea on how strong our football could be in the future, aided by the staff, public, media and of course sponsors. The ultimate goal is to build absolutely stable football organization in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where many new talents would be given a chance to develop and gain recognition.
We express our gratitude and appreciation to our "dragons" and coach Bazdarevic, for being an inspiration to many young players, for all they've done for Bosnian football, and for believing they will continue to win in the next 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia qualifications.
We believe this will bring a new joy to our fans and create an atmosphere in which the Bosnian public will once again be proud of our national team and their victories. FFBIH management will, as always, make every effort to prepare an environment in which talented players and coaches will be given a chance to achieve great results.
