Among the 26 players who are preparing for a qualifying match with Estonia are Danijel Milicevic and Tomislav Tomic. They're waiting for their first caps for the national team, however the invitation itself is a significant achievement for them.
Milicevic: "I'm very pleased I got the call to play for the national team. Changing my sports citizenship took a while, but the whole time I've been in contact with our coach, who came to see me in the Champions League game against Lyon. I'm very happy, everything's great, and the team is fantastic. I feel good as a debutant, but it's also important to start well with these qualifiers.
I know Ervin Zukanovic from before, we played together, I also know Cocalic because we often play against each other in the Belgian league; I know Lulic from Switzerland, others from tv. The atmosphere here is really great, captain Edin Dzeko immediately came to greet me and meet me with everyone, and that felt really nice. Guys are awesome and I'm having a great time."
When asked whether he expects to play in the match against Estonia Milicevic said: "Coach will ultimately decide that. I'll be practicing for the next seven days, I'm available, and we'll see what will coach say."
Tomic: "It's a great honor and pleasure to be here and share a locker room with people whom I saw and admired on the tv. It's every player's dream to play for his national football team. It was a big deal for me because I play in the Premier League and I'd like to thank coach Bazdarevic for inviting and trusting me. Initial impressions are really great."
Milicevic and Tomic are aware that they must adapt and meet all the demands coach and his staff put before them. Working hard isn't something new for them, and they both think everything will be easier and better in time. Tomic's message to other players is: "Coach Mesa Bazdarevic had invited players from the Premier League before, he closely follows our championship, meaning those up to the task can certainly expect his call."
