Bosnia and Herzegovina national futsal team will participate in the friendly futsal tournament in Poland later this month, where they will compete against Poland, Finland and Slovenia. Our futsal team coach Boro Matan talked with us about this event:
"We can expect a quality check-up via these three interesting games, we aim to maintain the continuity of work all the time. Players are on a break, but we’ll gather earlier and perform five or six training sessions in order to be as ready for the tournament where we’ll try to achieve a good result there. In any case, the tournament in Poland will serve us to prepare well for the qualifiers."
In the previous period, coach Matan introduced several new players to the national team:
"Our goal was to add new, young players to the team. Some of them met with our expectations, more or less, but now we’re in a situation where we have at least twenty players we can always count on."
Coach is also satisfied with how Under-21 futsal players performed:
“Two U-21 futsal friendlies against France, which were organized by FFBIH last month, were really great. Those players used the opportunity the right way, and proved they should be paid attention to. Of course, we’ll continue to follow them through the championship and we’ll count on them in the future for sure."
Boro Matan and his associates are already thinking about the obligations that await their team in the European Championship qualifiers:
"We have to get ready for qualifications. We have plenty of time, and through gatherings and matches like this, I think we’ll be ready for the challenges that await us.
Azerbaijan is hosting the qualifying tournament and has the team that ended up in the first pot in the qualifying draw. In this respect, they are certainly the favorites in the group, but we’re following what’s happening there, and we know what we can expect from them. We could have gone either way with harder and easier opponents than Hungary. They gather quite often, but we’ve been following and analyzing their game. I think the match against them will be decisive for second place or the play-offs. We should have accurate information about our opponents before the qualifiers."
Matan emphasizes there’s a bright future ahead for this team:
"This team is made up of players who can play together for a long time, and certainly have the potential to participate in the major competition. Hopefully it’s going to be upcoming European Championship, but this generation has a bright future for sure, and can accomplish many good things."
