With today's gathering at the FFBIH training center in Zenica, preparations for the upcoming qualifying games with Serbia and England have officially begun. One of the players who arrived together is SFK 2000 goalkeepera Envera Hasanbegovic who talked with us about her football beginnings:
"At first I played football with boys. They eventually accepted me and things came into place. Women's football club was later found in Srebrenink and that's where I started to train."
Hasanbegovic commented the qualifying round so far: "Our only victory was against Estonia, but Belgium reall beat us twice. However, it wasn't that bad even if the result says otherwise."
She expects a positive outcome in the next two games: "We expect to win in Serbia, but can't expect much against England, because they ended third at the last World Cup. However, we won't surrender and we'll try our best to come up with a draw at least."
She wears BIH national colors with pleasure: "Playing for a national team is the most beautiful thing that can happen in one athlete's career. Hearing the national anthem is very emotional, and it can't really be described. Everyone wants to be a part of the national team, but few have succeed. I'm very proud of that achievement in my career."
In order to be successful, Hasanbegovic keeps practicing: "I work out every day with the team, especially goalkeeper excersises. It's necessary to be committed if you want to practice sports seriously. Without the proper exercise, you can't succeed."
Hasanbegovic hasn't neglected her education: "I'm mostly dedicated to sports, but besides this I've also been a football referee for the past four years. I'm studying agronomy at the moment, and my ambitions are to graduate and play abroad in the future."
