Before the beginning of the championship spring half-season, FFBIH usually organizes many kinds of seminars in the second half of January and February. Competitions department director and event manager Elmir Pilav explains which seminars will take place and how they affect the officials' performance.
"Before the start of each season or half-season, our competitions department, in cooperation with the relevant committees, organizes seminars for officials, clubs, and regional football associations. When it comes to FFBIH officials (referees, assistant referees, observers and delegates) an analysis of their work in the past season is carried out, with special emphasis on mistake correction, but also they are presented with the possible changes in FFBIH , UEFA and FIFA regulations. Different situations in the game are also analyzed, using materials and tools that we regularly receive from UEFA. This time, special attention will be given to match observers' work and education, with a sole goal of leveling out the refereeing criteria.
When it comes to the seminar for the regional associations, in addition to the presentation of regulation amendments, mutual exchange of information is very important in order to have a better understanding of development at lower levels of organization within FFBIH."
Who are the lecturers at these seminars?
"In addition to the FFBIH committee and administration members, we included university professors from different fields, as well as various experts. Also, we plan to invite one of the international elite referees next time to showcase their experiences to our colleagues."
What is the most important aspect of the officials' work in the competitions organized by FFBIH?
"In addition to the quality and seriousness, FFBIH officials are expected to maintain the maximum level of integrity and protect the championship regularity on all levels; this is a very important segment of their work. In the past few seasons, despite the occasional errors that are an integral part of every job, football officials largely justified the trust placed upon them, and we're confident that the same will happen in the future."
