Women's national "A" football team coach Samira Hurem announced her lineup today for the qualifying match with Serbia, which will be played in seven days in Zenica. One of the players that made it on the list was Marija Aleksic:
"It's our last match in these qualifiers, and I can say for sure that this is one of the most important games. We have a fighting spirit and we want to achieve this year's goal and that's to remain third in the group. Home field is an advantage, and with our fans' help, we'll try to earn three points at home.
Each year we're getting better, and we did extremely well in these qualifiers. I think it's a big step forward to play against the third team in the world and lose with a minimum score both times. We've shown that we're, above all, a good team and only together we achieve good results."
Marija finds that women's football in Bosnia and Herzegovina is rapidly improving:
"Football in our country is getting more developed every year. A few years ago we got the Women's Premier League, and this year our cadets compete in the same league, so the women's football in Bosnia is certainly getting more popular. Our national team's results can be seen beyond the borders of our country and give us a chance for further progress. Also, our champion qualified for the Champions League Round of 32, which is also extraordinary for our country. We're still at the beginning, but believe me, in a few years the world will hear about BiH's female football."
From this season on, the former member of Banja Luka plays for Hungary's best women's club:
"I signed for Hungarian champion Ferencvarosi this summer. I managed perfectly in the new club, I played my first Champions League in which we won the second place in the group. The work is amazing and significantly differs from the one before. It was difficult to change the environment and start a new life somewhere else, but in time I got used to it, and I'm trying to get the best of it."
