Coach Bazdarevic talks about ongoing preparations and match with Israel

Coach Bazdarevic talks about ongoing preparations and match with Israel.

Q: You've been coach for almost six months, how do you see this period?

A: I see that period as very positive, and I've been saying that in media many times. Everyone who is involved with the team, especially players made our job easier. We worked hard and in the end we got what we wanted from the past two games. After that, I monitored their shape and how they played. Sometimes I worried why some of them don't play in their teams and so on, but I think we are now focused on what's ahead and I have to say we're pleased. We are doing everything in order to prepare this team.

Q: Can you count on all players from your Israel lineup, did someone cancel his arrival?

A: Few players had problems with injuries, especially Zukanovic whose injury is more serious and will take up to ten days to heal. We need those who are 100% ready at this time. I think Cimirot has a similar problem, but I'll be discussing that with the staff. There are no problems with other players, everybody else will be here. They will have one training session this afternoon after which we'll evaluate the balance in the team.

Q: What worries you the most at this time, injuries or something else?

A: I'd say Zukanovic's or anyone else's absence is a worry. I'd like everyone to be here and to be ready. The opponent also worries us and how we'll prepare for the match as well, but we're ready, we have a plan. I hope players will enter the stadium highly motivated and eager to win because we know what's at stake. This period is extremely important in order to build up a good atmosphere, good ambience and good work. We can and we will beat Israel.

Q: Your thoughts on FIFA president's resignation?

A: I'm not that surprised, and I think it was the time for him to leave. I've known him many years, and I kind of expected him to make a first move and leave, perhaps leave the job to someone younger. They have done a lot for football and sports in general, however I wouldn't go into the reasons why he left. I only think he stayed at that position for too long.
