Today, we talked with an assistant coach in the cadet national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Damjan Ratkovic, who is preparing the young team at the FFBIH training center in Zenica for the upcoming European Championship.
How much the European Championship means for you as a coach?
"This is a really nice story for me, and it gives me motivation and satisfaction for future work."
How is our players' shape before the championship?
"We've checked up on them, and they're in good shape. They perform well in their clubs and score goals which is the most important of all. Some of them were injured, but they are training again and they came ready here. We expect them to step up when we need them."
Which opponent will be the greatest challenge for our team?
"Every team is good, but the biggest challenge will be the match with Germany on May 8th. The first game will have the most impact for us, because it'll give us orientation what to do next. If we succeed in making a good result, it would be easier for us for the rest of the championship."
What are your expectations from the European Championship?
"We've succeeded already by qualifying for the European Championship. Of course, we won't go to Azerbaijan to be idle, but to play good football. We have a good team and good boys who deserve to be there, and I hope we'll do good."
