As a part of ongoing preparations for the Elite Qualifying round, Bosnia and Herzegovina's junior football team played two friendlies with USA last week with one win (3:1) and one loss (0:1) as a result.
Coach Toni Karacic stopped for a short interview: "Second match was way worse than the first one where we still lacked that tactical and technical edge. This time we were seven players short, and as a result we lost by one goal. However, these matches served the purpose and will help us prepare ourselves for the upcoming Elite Qualifying round. In both matches with Albania we couldn't count on many players because they were played out of UEFA's schedule, but we noticed some new boys who broadened our game. I'm happy with players' performance, and it's clear we didn't come to Elite Qualifying round by chance.
First match there will be very important. It's unfortunate Ukraine is our first opponent who has a very good team, and at the same time Memija and Mihojevic won't be able to play because of yellow cards. On the other hand, slight advantage would be a home environment, but it's important all players are in optimal shape. I hope there will be no injuries, besides the first match could determine the outcome of the qualifications."
He also talked about other opponents in our group: "Montenegro has very good selection, they also didn't come here by chance, and this is one of their best young generations. Poland also has a quality and much-needed support. Their junior team will be a tough opponent in this round."
Elite Qualifying round tournament will be held from May 14th to 19th in Mostar and Siroki Brijeg.
