The meeting was hosted by FFBiH General Secretary Adnan Džemidžić and Head of International Relations and Cooperation Vaso Mijanović.

Mr. Diwald has been serving as ambassador in our country since 2024, with a diplomatic career spanning 20 years. In discussions on various international topics in sports, particularly football, they also spoke about the current state of infrastructure in Bosnia and Herzegovina, conditions for football development, and BiH nationals who’ve shaped football in Austria; most notably the legendary Ivica Osim.

In the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, our national team will play Austria twice, and this was also an opportunity to further strengthen ties between the two friendly nations, with the hope that both teams will secure a place at next year’s world’s biggest football event.
