After watching yesterday’s UEFA Youth League match of the U-19 team of Željezničar, Prosinečki has scheduled numerous interviews today and some administrative obligations, but he previously spoke for the official website of the Federation about the impressions from the recent tour, as well as other football issues.

Head coach, how could you assess the players’ performance in two friendly matches in America?

“We had a tour that was tough, but we played with two big teams, America and Mexico. The players were disciplined, working and fighting very well. We can be satisfied, because they showed that there were potentials in the Premier League, as well as in the U-21 team. The U-21 players achieved a good result in the previous qualifications for the European U-21 Championship, they played well and I think that the BH football has a nice future. We are satisfied with the tour, because we saw that there were players who can compete for the “A” national team for the UEFA Nations League.”

You attended the match of the U-19 teams of “Željezničar” and “Atletico Madrid”. How did you see that game?

“It’s a great thing that “Željezničar” came to play-off and played a strong game against “Atletico Madrid”. The guests won, and they were a little better, but “Željezničar” also played very well, especially during the first half. Later, the strength and speed of the opponent came to the fore. However, there are many promising players in “Željezničar”.”

Can you tell when there was more training, or are the players more professionals today or when you were a player?

“Football has gone to a higher level today. It could be said that the trainings are more numerous and more modern. The game was improved in all aspects. If you are not a professional and do not adhere to these principles, you can hardly succeed at this level. Football has changed a lot since the time I played.”

How important is to get former football players into the football structures? We have Boban in FIFA, Figo and Stanković in UEFA?

“It’s a logical and it’s not surprising that former players are increasingly coming up with high functions in football. That’s how it should be, because they best understand the problems. It’s similar in other sports too. It is not necessary that the big players are also great coaches or officials, but that can be their advantage.”

Do you have a role model among coaches?

“All of us are looking for some things and we have coaches that we like, and whose work suits us better. Everyone has different methods in the business. For me, at this moment, Pep Guardiola, my former team mate, is the best coach in the world. His teams play differently from others and we all would like to have teams that do so. He had excellent results in “Barcelona” and “Bayern”. Now it's “Manchester City” where he also has a result, and the team plays very nice football.”

How much does your attitude towards football as a player differ from that you have as a coach or a head coach?

“There is nothing more beautiful than when you are a player. Later, you have to think differently, and during the career of a player you have only a pitch and your obligation is not to forget your football boots. The coaching job is completely different; you have to think about the group, there are lot of obligations. I definitely enjoy this, otherwise I would not accept the job, but if I could play infinitely, I would always choose to be a player and not a coach.”

What are your plans in the upcoming period?

“I plan to have some discussions with Ibišević and Lulić. I have already announced that. In addition, I will also visit our other players who play abroad. Plans for the next period are to see all the potential national team’s players.”
