Bosnia and Herzegovina Under-17 national team returned from Azerbaijan today where they took part in the cadet European Championship. Our team ended third in the Group B with 3 points. Captain Jasmin Celikovic summed up our team's performance:
"This was a great event and valuable experience for us. It was difficult because our opponents were football teams with significant sports traditions and are regular participants at major competitions. This was our first European Championship, and we broke the ice so to speak. Unfortunately, the first match against Austria was bad, and although we played well against Germany we were defeated. We were good against Ukraine, and finally we earned some points. Even though the competition is finished for us, we can say that our performance in Baku was solid."
Players were welcomed by FFBIH president Elvedin Begic at the Sarajevo International Airport who expressed his satisfaction with the way these players represented our country.
All eighteen players who traveled to Azerbaijan got the chance to play at the European Championship, where our team scored three goals, twice via Benjamin Hadzic, a once by Jasmin Celikovic. Four players spent all 240 minutes on the field - Milan Miric, Stefan Kovac, Jasmin Celikovic and Benjamin Hadzic.
