Bosnia and Herzegovina U-17 national football team has gathered today at the FFBIH training center in Zenica for a three-day training session. The team has managed to qualify for the Elite Qualifying round which will be held next month in Georgia.
Coach Sakib Malkocevic: "This is the first time we gathered since the October qualifications. Only Tomas Dadic was injured and did not come today, but he should be ready for the next meeting. We'll see some new players in action, but also we're going to check up on some of the regulars. At the same time, we'll try to improve and eliminate some of the mistakes we made earlier. After two friendlies with Montenegro, we'll choose the players for the tournament in Georgia. The backbone of the team will consist of boys who played in the qualifiers, but we could use new and fresh players in the team.
When we look at how little we needed to qualify for the European Championship, I think we have the right to hope for more this time. Our opponents are tough, Italy is the regular participant at major football events, and Russia finished the qualifications without a single received goal. Georgia is also not to be underestimated because it's a team who threw Hungary and Romania out of the competition. It will be very difficult, but nothing's impossible and if we get an opportunity to go further, we'll certainly use it."
