Bosnia and Herzegovina's national football team started UEFA Euro 2016 qualifications with a defeat. Tonight in Zenica, they were defeated by Cyprus with 1:2.
Our team took the lead in 6' via Vedad Ibisevic, but Dimitris Christofi evened the result in 45'. Later in 73' he also scored one final goal for the away team.
"Everything went as expected in the beginning, we scored on time, but somehow we managed to play worse with each passing minute, especially later after Cyprus scored the goal. We feared this might happen, they played as expected. My players really surprised me with their lack of effort, we have no excuse for this loss", said coach Safet Susic during the press conference after the match.
Before commenting on the match, Cyprus' coach Charalampos Christodolou thanked FFBIH for showing them such hospitality, and added: "For the first 15 minues, we weren't playing well, but 45' minute was really important when we scored the goal. That gave us confidence in the second half.#
BIH team will play its next qualifying match on October 10th against Wales.
