Election Process Underway Within FFBiH

Category: News

The Football Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FFBiH) has undertaken all necessary actions within its statutory powers at the end of last year to ensure the unobstructed electoral process across all organizational levels in 2024 and 2025. Since the previous elections for FFBiH members and bodies took place at the end of 2020 and early 2021, it was necessary to schedule all elections within the members of FFBiH on time. So far, the electoral process has been completed within the Football Association of Republika Srpska (FA RS), while the electoral process within the Football Association of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FA FBiH) is ongoing. Electoral assemblies have been held in several cantonal and county associations, with elections completed within the specified deadlines.

Due to certain challenges in preparing for the electoral assembly session of the Sarajevo Canton Football Association (SC FA), the FFBiH Executive Board took steps in accordance with its powers and the Roadmap. It was decided that, due to the complexity of the process, the FFBiH Election Commission would oversee the preparation of necessary documentation for the elections in this particular association. In addition, a special working group was formed to monitor the preparation of the documentation and to implement the tasks for holding the SC FA electoral assembly session. A representative of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Sarajevo Canton is also part of this working group.

After a joint meeting between the Election Commission and the working group, the candidates' applications for the upcoming elections were reviewed. It was found that many applications had incomplete documentation, so an additional deadline was provided for their submission. Other interested candidates who meet the necessary conditions were also given the opportunity to apply. This has opened the way for the elections in the SC FA to be held smoothly on December 11, 2024. The FA FBiH is actively involved in this electoral process as an entity association.

The Football Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina will continue to monitor the electoral processes within its jurisdiction through its Election Commission. Adherence to statutes, rules of procedure, and other legal acts related to elections at all levels remains a condition without which no elections within the organization can be conducted. If any of these acts are not respected, the FFBiH will act within its powers.

Associations at lower organizational levels are required to act in accordance with the statutes, decisions of the FFBiH Executive Board, and the deadlines prescribed in the Roadmap project. Otherwise, organizational units acting contrary to these guidelines will not be allowed to participate in electoral processes at higher levels, both entity and state. The FFBiH will not recognize decisions made at "assemblies" convened without proper authorization, and disciplinary proceedings will be initiated against clubs and individuals who act and work outside the statutes.
