The FFBiH Referees Committee provided explanations for key refereeing decisions from the 23rd round of the BiH Wwin League:
- HŠK Zrinjski vs. FK Sloboda
- 15': FK Sloboda's No. 46 fouls an HŠK Zrinjski forward, and the referee correctly awards a penalty. However, since it was a denial of an obvious goal-scoring opportunity with an attempt to play the ball, the correct disciplinary action should've been a caution (yellow card). Instead, the referee wrongly sends off FK Sloboda's No. 15, and VAR incorrectly upholds the decision, failing to call an on-field review (OFR).
- 61': Inside the visiting team's penalty area, FK Sloboda's No. 15 and HŠK Zrinjski's No. 50 make contact. It was normal, permissible contact, not a foul, yet the referee wrongly awards a penalty to the home team. After a correct VAR intervention and an OFR, the referee overturns the decision and rightfully cancels the penalty.
- NK Široki Brijeg vs. FK Velež
- 44': The referee correctly sends off the home team's player No. 10 for serious foul play. It was a reckless, high-intensity tackle with a significant risk of injuring the opponent.
- FK Željezničar vs. HŠK Posušje
- 31': The visiting goalkeeper carelessly brings down FK Željezničar's No. 22, who clearly plays the ball. The referee correctly awards a penalty.
- 45+3': The home team's No. 7 heads the ball before HŠK Posušje's No. 5 makes a careless challenge, hitting the opponent in the head. The referee fails to spot the foul, however after a correct VAR intervention and OFR, he rightly awards a penalty to FK Željezničar.
- 65': After a duel in the home side's penalty area, the referee awards a penalty to HŠK Posušje. However, their No. 99 initiated the contact with the defender, who didn't commit a foul. Following a correct VAR intervention and an OFR, the referee overturns the initial decision and cancels the penalty.
- FK Borac vs. NK GOŠK
- 44': Inside the visitors' penalty area, the home team's No. 98 clearly heads the ball before the visitors' No. 23, instead of playing the ball, carelessly strikes the opponent in the head. After a correct VAR intervention and an OFR, the referee awards a penalty to the home team.
- 87': Following a duel between NK GOŠK's No. 11 and FK Borac's No. 27, the referee calls a foul, awards a direct free kick to the home team, and shows a second yellow card, sending off NK GOŠK's No. 11. However, the contact was fair, the visiting player clearly played the ball, and no foul occurred, making the referee's decision incorrect. According to VAR protocol, this situation isn't subject to VAR intervention.
- FK Sarajevo vs. FK Igman
- 68': A home team player shoots on goal, and the ball strikes the hand of FK Igman’s No. 44 inside his own penalty area. His arm was in an unnatural position, making his body wider, meaning he assumed the risk of a handball offense. The referee initially misses the incident but, after a correct VAR intervention and OFR, rightly awards a penalty to the home side.
