BiH U-21 Team Better Than North Macedonia

The Bosnia and Herzegovina national under-21 football team won a friendly match against North Macedonia 2:1 today.

Our team started strong; the first real chance came in the 7th minute when Kulašin made a run down the right, skillfully evaded his marker, but shot wide. In the 11th minute, BiH took the lead. Jaganjac made a run down the left, shot towards the goal, and with a little help from one of the Macedonia's defenders, the ball ended up in the net for 1:0. The visitors had their first serious opportunity in the 14th minute. After stealing the ball in midfield, it went to Gjorgievski, who couldn't beat Damjanović despite two attempts. In the 16th minute, another chance for our team: Bristrić received an excellent through ball, but his shot was blocked at the last moment. Another chance for North Macedonia came in the 27th minute when Despotovski headed one towards goal, but Damjanović saved it, sending the ball out for a corner. The first half ended with our team leading 1:0.

The second half began with Bristrić shooting from about 17 meters, but the ball went over the goal. In the next attack, Krstevski responded with a long-distance shot that also missed the target. In the 55th minute, the guests had a good attempt after a set-piece, with Ramadni heading from the far post, but it was off-target. Ten minutes later, Bristrić found himself in a good shooting position again, but missed. In the 72nd minute, the score turned to 2:0 for BiH. Kulašin made another great run down the right and crossed to Bristrić, who finally found the opponents' net. There were no significant chances until stoppage time when North Macedonia narrowed the gap to 2:1 with Ademi’s goal, and that was the final score.

Coach Igor Janković said after the match: “Besides the result, there's nothing else I'm satisfied with. Macedonians were unfair, as the agreement was to test players for the next qualifiers, born in 2004 and 2005. They finished the game with nine players born in 2002. However, we played the match fairly, fought hard, but didn't gain much from it.”
