We will check more potential national team players

The junior national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina is currently gathering at the FF BH Training Centre in Zenica, led for the first time by the new head coach Ivica Barbarić.

Yesterday, the first friendly match was played in which the BH team lost 0:1 to Serbia, but the head coach had no objections to the players’ commitment after the match.

With his impressions of the first action with the junior national team, Barbarić says:

“My first impressions at the beginning of working with this team are very good. The conditions for working in the Training Centre are really at a high level, the guys are disciplined and we have no complaints about their behaviour and work. What was an aggravating circumstance before yesterday’s match is that the boys played matches for their clubs on Saturday and Sunday, so they only had one training session. In that regard, what they showed in the match is perhaps above what we expected.”

About the plans for the future, the head coach said:

“We plan to use the time ahead to watch as many matches as possible and scout the players. There are other potential national team players in this generation that we need to check, as well as players from abroad that we could not count on now. We are in the selection phase and we will do our best to make as few mistakes as possible and select the best players for this national team. This generation did not have many gatherings, because of the corona, but it is important that we started working and I believe that we will prepare the team in time for the challenges that lie ahead.”

Ivica Barbarić also commented on tomorrow’s match:

“Given that the players had little time to rest, we probably couldn’t have done better in yesterday’s match. We will do our best to refresh the team and prepare the players as well as possible for tomorrow’s match with Serbia. The opponent is good, but we will do our best to win. Sometimes you can go out on the pitch and attack constantly, and sometimes it is necessary to do your best, in order to create two or three situations in which a goal can be scored. We will prepare in the best possible way, so we will see tomorrow what we can do.”

The match Bosnia and Herzegovina vs. Serbia is scheduled for tomorrow at 12:00 h in the Zenica Training Camp with a live broadcast on the FF BH official YouTube channel.
