Young Dragons began preparations for Wales and Moldova

The U-21 national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina gathered in Ilidža today, and in the Training Centre of FK Sarajevo in Butmir they did the first training session as part of the preparations for the qualifying matches with Wales and Moldova.

At today’s training session, there were no players from Sarajevo who played a match for their club against Radnik in Bijeljina today.

The head coach Slobodan Starčević faced a lot of dismissals, so the list was changed in relation to the one that was published a few days ago.

The clubs did not release Ermedin Demirović, Jusuf Gazibegović, Amar Dedić and Benjamin Hadžić to come. Amar Ćatić is positive for the coronavirus, while Nermin Hajdarević is in isolation due to positive cases in his club. Apart from them, Vladan Danilović was invited to the “A” national team.

Subsequent invitations were given to Amar Begić (Mladost), Gabrijel Čoko (Zrinjski), Andrej Đokanović (Sarajevo), Saša Maksimović (Sloboda), Ševkija Resić (Novi Pazar, Serbia), Nedim Hadžić (Mladost) and Anes Mašić (Zrinjski).

At the beginning of the preparations, the head coach Slobodan Starčević stated:

“We had a lot of dismissals before this gathering, but we compiled a list of 25 players. They are all talented football players and I believe that they will be able to respond to all our requests. First of all, we expect to play a good match against Wales, and to reach a favourable result. We are glad that players like Danilović, Šerbečić and Šabanadžović received an invitation to the “A” national team. Our goal is for these players to impose themselves to the head coach of the “A” team with their work and good matches in the U-21 team.”

Starčević says about the next opponent:

“Wales also has its problems. No one can avoid problems at this time. Three standard players were invited to the “A” team. They also have some new names and their line-up will be changed in relation to the match in Wales. We are aware that they are a very high-quality team, composed of players who play in strong English clubs. We will take all that into account and prepare the team to play a good match and try to win.”

After today’s training, striker Imad Rondić stated:

“It is a great honour to receive an invitation to a national team and I will always be happy to respond to the invitation to the national team. What follows is a tough match against a team that plays tough. We have a good team; the atmosphere is good and we hope for positive results.”

Ševkija Resić also expects a difficult match:

“I started the season in a very good way and the head coach noticed that, so I was invited to the national team. This is a reward for all the effort I made and I am grateful for the invitation. I hope that I will justify the trust and that the team will win in the next matches. At the moment, we are only thinking about Wales. It will be difficult, but we are going for three points.”
