Senior Women’s Team Wins the Second Friendly

The second friendly game between Bosnia and Herzegovina’s women’s "A" and under-19 national teams was played today at the FFBiH Training Center in Zenica, with the senior team claiming a 4:2 win.

In the first half, the seniors (featuring players under 23) controlled the game and built a commanding 3:0 lead. Marija Ana Milinković scored in the 10' from the penalty spot after a foul on Sofija Krajšumović inside the box. Elma Husić doubled the lead in the 20' with a precise strike from around 20 meters, and Krajšumović finalized a nice team move in the 32' to make it 3:0.

The juniors started the second half better, and in the 52', after a cross from Ana Jurić on the right, Zerina Marković pulled one back. In the 60', Una Rankić took a free kick from about 30 meters, the ball bounced off the crossbar and fell to Amila Abdukić, who headed it in for the U-19 team’s second goal. In the 67', Alma Krajnić made a great run down the left side and delivered the ball to Selma Hasić, who scored from around ten meters to seal the final 4:2.

Women’s "A" team head coach Selver Hodžić summed up the event after the match: "We’ve had a quality gathering. The conditions at the Training Center were excellent, and the weather worked in our favor. We played really well today in the first half today and created a lot of good attacking moves. These matches helped us see which of these players we can count on right away for the "A" team, and which ones might need a bit more time. We trust all the girls we called up, they’ve got the potential for the senior team. The U-19s also played both matches at a high level, and we’ve seen 3–4 very interesting players in that team who definitely deserve attention."

Under-19 head coach Jelena Milović said after the game: "Considering we played two tough matches against the older team, I can say I’m pleased with what I saw. This camp helped us get a clearer picture of what lies ahead in the qualifiers. We also saw what we still need to work on to become more competitive and better. We’ve got a busy period ahead, but there’s plenty to look forward to. Congratulations to the seniors on a strong performance and the win, but also to my players, especially for how they responded in the second half."
