Victory of She-Dragons!

The women’s “A” national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina defeated the national team of Azerbaijan with 1:0 today at the “Grbavica” in the match of the 7th round of qualifications for the 2023 World Cup.

Mejrema Medić had her first serious attempt in the 15th minute, but she sent the ball near the goal from the edge of the penalty area. The next opportunity was seen only in the 43rd minute, when Selma Kapetanović sent the ball over the goal from ten meters diagonally from the right side. Medić shot well from twenty meters in the additional time of the first half, but goalkeeper Aytaj Sharifova threw the ball into the corner.

The continuation of the game brought a more offensive game of the She-Dragons and, in the 51st minute, Marija Ana Milinković hit the crossbar from twenty meters. Three minutes later, Amela Kršo made a great pass on the left side and sent the ball to the second post for Milena Nikolić, who shot with her head next to the goal. Sofija Krajšumović also tried from a distance in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper of Azerbaijan defended her shot. Milinković also had a good opportunity in the 65th minute, but the guests managed to defend themselves and throw the ball into the corner. Nikolić had the next opportunity in the 87th minute, but Sharifova intervened well this time.

The guests tried in every way to save the net, so they kept the time, which is why the match was extended by eight minutes. However, such a game did not pay off for them, because the captain of the BH team, Milena Nikolić, scored a goal for the victory of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 4th minute of additional time.

The She-Dragons will play their next match in the qualifications with Montenegro in Podgorica on 12th April.
