Victory of She-Dragons

The women’s “A” national team won today, in Győr, Belarus with 2:1 in the first-round match of group B4 of the UEFA Nations League.

The BH team had its first good attempt in the 4th minute, when Maja Jelčić shot from a distance and hit the crossbar. Two minutes later, Selma Kapetanović made an excellent cross from the left side, and Maja Jelčić sent the ball into the net with a header and gave the She-Dragons the advantage.

In the 11th minute, Kapetanović tried from a good position on the left side, but she shot weakly and goalkeeper Nataliya Voskobovich caught the ball.

The home team equalized the result in the 14th minute. Anna Pilipenko crossed in from the left, and Anastasiya Linnik headed the goal.

Marija Ana Milinković attempted a header in the 21st minute, but Voskobovich stopped her shot. A minute later, Linnik had a chance on the other side, but Nikolina Todorić made an excellent save.

By the end of the first half, both teams had one more chance. In the 44th minute, Pilipenko tried from a favourable position, but her shot was blocked on the goal line. In the 2nd minute of the additional time, Voskobovich stopped Emina Ekić’s attempt.

There were no further chances until the 67th minute, when Milena Nikolić headed towards the opponent’s goal and shot from 15 meters from the left side, but the Belarusian goalkeeper was once again up to the task. Belarus had a good chance in the 86th minute, when Todorić stopped the shots of Karina Alkhovik and Anna Pilipenko.

The victory for Samira Hurem’s team was brought by Andrea Gavrić in the 87th minute. Goalkeeper Nataliya Voskobovich took a free kick 40 meters from the goal, but her attempt to work her teammate was intercepted by Gavrić and sent the ball into the undefended net from a long distance.

In the second match of the group, the Czech Republic beat Slovenia 2:0 away in Krško. Bosnia and Herzegovina will compete in the second round at the BH FF Training Centre in Zenica on 26th September at 16:00 hours to play with Slovenia. On the same day at 17:00 h, the Czech Republic-Belarus match is scheduled.
