Victory of She-Dragons

The women’s “A” national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina defeated Malta today with 1:0 in the qualifying match for the World Cup which will be held in Australia and New Zealand in 2023.

The BH team, which entered the match more offensively, had its first chance in the 19th minute, but the ball went next to the goal after Milena Nikolić’s shot from the edge of the penalty area.

Dajana Spasojević also tried from a distance in the 29th minute, but Malta goalkeeper Janice Xuereb turned the ball into a corner.

Bosnia and Herzegovina took the lead in the 36th minute. After the corner kick taken by Selma Kapetanović from the right side, in the crowd in the penalty area, the ball bounced to Maja Jelčić, who was accurate from about 7 meters for 1:0.

In the second half as well, the BH team had a field initiative, and the first serious opportunity had Sofija Krajšumović in the 60th minute. Our wing attacker shot diagonally from the right side, and Xuereb turned the ball into a corner.

After that, the guests threatened on several occasions, and in the 82nd minute, Nikolić and Krajšumović tried from favourable positions, but the ball bounced into the corner. After the shot from the corner, Jelčić tried from about ten meters, but she shot over the goal.

Jelčić and Marija Ana Milenković had good opportunities in the 86th minute, but the guests defended themselves once again. A minute later, Krajšumović hit the crossbar.

The BH national team will continue the qualification in April next year with matches against Azerbaijan and Montenegro.
