At today’s press conference, head coach Selver Hodžić and players Milena Nikolić and Melisa Hasanbegović spoke about the upcoming match.
Reflecting on the recent loss to Romania, Hodžić said: "We didn’t expect that defeat. We had some good moments, but conceded right at 45+2' and again in the second half when we had possession and control of the action. Still, we saw many positives that we’ll carry into the next game."
When asked what BiH needs to do against Northern Ireland to secure second place, Hodžić was clear: "We have to beat them. We know them well, and I think that with good preparation, focus, and energy, we can achieve that in front of our fans. Ena Taslidža won’t be available due to injury, so we’ve called up Ana Jurić to help us. Our goal difference is good, we just need the win. Today we’ll wrap up the last details and be ready to step out strong tomorrow."
Captain Milena Nikolić emphasized: "We had a lot of chances against Romania but lacked the finishing touch. I hope we’ll address that tomorrow and regain the skill we showed in the first four games. Northern Ireland is persistent until the final whistle, but our strength lies in our unity, and we’re determined to match their persistence and secure three points to claim second place in the group."
Nikolić also added that the evening kickoff suits the team better than a daytime match and called on fans to support them.
Melisa Hasanbegović kept it brief and clear: "Northern Ireland is a tricky opponent, and our matches against them usually see plenty of goals. I think we’ve played well so far; starting strong, creating chances, but conceding late in the first or second half. I hope we fix that tomorrow because it’s time we paid them back a bit for past results. Honestly, I expect three points."
The Bosnia and Herzegovina vs. Northern Ireland match will kick off tomorrow at 19:00 at the FFBiH Training Center in Zenica. Admission is free.
