The team held their first media session today, where head coach Selver Hodžić, along with players Aida Hadžić and Nikolina Milović, addressed the press.
Coach Hodžić said: "We've analyzed the opponent, we know how they play, where they're strong, and where they have issues. We'll present this to the players during the preparations. We have our principles; we're not just looking to adapt to their play. We’ll prepare and I believe we’ll play a good match. Serbia is the favorite, with players in major European clubs. In a two-legged tie, anything can happen, and I believe we have our chances. With our play and the right approach, we can succeed. The match against Portugal gave us confidence, because we showed we can compete against strong teams. We didn’t just defend ourselves, we created opportunities as well. That match can guide us, and we’ll try to bring that into the upcoming games."
Unlike previous gatherings, this time, a few players will be missing: "Marija Aleksić and Minela Gačanica are injured, so we can’t count on them. Amela Kršo has retired from the national team. However, there are new players we've been following, and they've earned a call-up. I have full confidence in all the girls here," said Selver Hodžić.
Aida Hadžić stated: "We’ve been together for a short time, and with this cycle, there’s a new coach who has brought new demands and ideas. We’re adapting to that, and against Portugal, we showed we’re on the right track and progressing. Serbia is probably the best team in our region. We respect them, but we’ll give everything we can in these two duels and try to beat them. It’s always nice to play at the Training Center, where there’s always a great atmosphere, and I’d like to invite everyone who can to come and support us on Friday."
Nikolina Milović added: "I expect a tough, challenging match. Serbia has a good team. They might be the favorites, but we have a say in this too. The support from the stands on Friday will be our advantage. I guarantee we’ll give it our all, and hopefully, it’ll lead to a good result. The absence of some players will be a challenge, but the new ones will surely give their best to prove themselves. We have a few days to prepare, the focus is on the game, and I believe we’ll show attractive play."
The match against Serbia is scheduled for Friday, October 25, at 14:00 at the FFBiH Training Center in Zenica.
