At the Extraordinary FIFA Congress held today in Zurich, Switzerland, Gianni Infantino has been elected as the President of FIFA for the remainder of the current term of office.

After the second ballot, Infantino got the most delegate votes which put him ahead of Shk. Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, HRH Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, and Jérôme Champagne. The candidate Tokyo Sexwale withdrew from the election after his address to the Congress.

Earlier today, FIFA Congress approved a set of landmark reforms to FIFA's governance structure, including improvements to the governance of global football, a clear separation of commercial, executive, and political decision-making and management, greater scrutiny of senior officials, term limits (three years), the disclosure of individual compensations and wages, greater recognition and promotion of women in football and a commitment to enrich human rights.

Furthermore, these reforms include statutory principles of good governance for member associations and confederations, such as compulsory annual independent audit reports as well as independent judicial bodies to ensure a separation of powers on all levels of football structures. The main aspects of the approved reforms have already been incorporated into an amended version of the FIFA Statutes.

Football Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FFBIH) was represented by president Elvedin Begic, first vice president Darko Ljubojevic and general secretary Jasmin Bakovic.
