The Grassroots program includes football for everyone regardless of gender, race, ability, religious and national affiliation, and the Grassroots Week event has traditionally been held in the last week of September for several years.
In the tournament, which was held in the Centre for Education, Sports and Recreation “Safet Zajko”, girls from the schools “Hasan Kaimija”, “Fifth Primary Škola”, “Avdo Smailović”, “Nafija Sarajlić”, “Pofalići”, “Sokolje”, “Hamdija Kreševljaković”, “Osman Nuri Hadžić”, “First Primary School”, “Mirsad Prnjavorac”, “Second Primary School” and “Behaudin Selmanović” participated.
The first place was won by the PS “Avdo Smailović”, which defeated the PS “Mirsad Prnjavorac” in the final. In the match for the third place, the PS “Hasan Kaimija” was better than the PS “Hamdija Kreševljaković”.
Sumeja Čajdin was declared the best player of the tournament, while Merjem Čatić was the best goalkeeper.
As part of the celebration of the Grassroots Week in the coming period, several more events are planned: Tournament of Primary Schools in Mostar, Tournament for Girls and Boys (mixed football) in Banja Luka, Tournament for Girls 3x3 in Bijeljina, and the Special Olympics - Sports Games of OAZA in Sarajevo and inclusive football for children from primary schools in Tuzla.
