Futsal Tournament - Be my friend

The Special Olympics of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with the Football Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, today in SRC “Srce” in Sarajevo organized a futsal tournament called “Be a Friend” within the European Football Week.

The tournament was attended by about 260 competitors from: SFK 2000 Sarajevo, BAAP Sportivo, SF Respekt, Association “Oasa”, Association of Mother of Disabled Children of TK, Association “Sunce” Derventa, Drin Institute, Pazarić Institute, students of the Third High School and the Secondary Schools for Vocational Training.

The aim of the event is the inclusion of people with disabilities, and besides them in the today’s tournament were also refugee children and their parents who currently reside in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This year’s European Football Week is dedicated to refugees in European countries with a message that the football game expands friendship and gives all children satisfaction.

The Chief Executive of the Special Olympics in B&H, Kada Delić, says about today’s event:

“The FF BH and the Special Olympics are on the right path to contribute to the integration of children with disabilities through such events of winning prejudice and through various inclusive activities. In addition, there are children, refugees from Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Syria. I am pleased that through such a manifestation we have contributed to the children’s feeling of charms and the pleasure of sports, socializing, friendship, co-existence, tolerance and everything that football provides.”

Support event gave former national team player Muhamed Konjić, as well as BH women’s national team players Alisa Spahić and Alma Kamerić.

“Beautiful event. Football has always been something special in B&H, it is above politics and it’s a way of life. When I see these young people with how enthusiastic they are approaching today’s event, I feel very happy. All praise for the FF BH and the Special Olympics for organizing this tournament. It's always nice to be on such events and feel this positive atmosphere”, said Muhamed Konjić.
