Alongside the already established under-15 and under-13 leagues, an under-11 league has also been introduced this season, giving the youngest female players an opportunity to compete regularly.

A total of 42 teams are participating across the three age categories, divided by region. The regional competitions allow girls to gain experience, develop their football skills and build a love for the sport through play and socializing.

Ivana Vlaić, FFBiH Senior Associate for Women’s Football, talked about the importance of expanding competitions to younger age groups: “We’re particularly pleased that this season, alongside the under-15 and under-13 leagues, we’ve also launched a competition for girls under 11 y/o. We want as many girls as possible to have an opportunity to train and play football in an environment suited to their age. In the youngest categories, the main focus is on play, socializing and learning basic football skills, while through the older age groups, the girls gradually gain competitive experience as well. These leagues represent an important foundation for the development of women’s football, and clubs and coaches who work with girls every day play a major role in that.”
