The event was held at the FF BH Training Centre in Zenica and brought together girls and boys from 6 homes for children without parental care in Bosnia and Herzegovina: the KJU Bjelave the Children’s Home - Sarajevo, the Zenica Family Home, the Egyptian Village Children’s Home - Mostar, the Children’s Home Tuzla, the “Rada Vranješević” Home - Banja Luka and the SOS Children’s Village Gračanica.
The FF BH Senior Associate for Football Development, Dženan Đipa, says about this year’s Orphan’s Cup:
“With the aim of giving everyone a chance to get involved in football and be a part of this game, we have organized the Orphan’s Cup for the second time. Children without parental care participated in it and we are all overjoyed to see the smiles on their faces for two days of this event. We are pleased with how things went; it was very interesting to socialize with these children and we cannot wait for further activities and new socializing through this project. We also thank all the volunteers who helped us a lot in organizing the Orphan’s Cup.”
In addition to the homes, the project was supported by the Citizens’ Association for the Promotion of Roma Education “Otaharin” - Bijeljina, the Atletico 1919 Academy - Orašje and NK Sporting - Zenica.
Milan Ilić from the C.A. Otaharin stated:
“We also participated in the first Orphan’s Cup and it was a wonderful experience for us. For this reason, we eagerly accepted the invitation also for this event. Everything has been organized at the highest level and we are glad to have been a part of this beautiful story once again.”
Danijel Akrapović, a coach at NK Sporting Zenica, also brings positive impressions from this event:
“We are delighted to have supported the second Orphan’s Cup. This is another indication of how sport connects people and the youngest generations should always be encouraged to get involved, both in football and in other sports. We have had a nice socializing at this event and will always support similar projects.”
