Although he is no longer a member of the technical staff of the national team, Stephane Gilli is still attached to the BH team and he knows well not only our players but also the opponents, and from the aspect of professionalism he can talk about the upcoming match:
“Belgium was a favourite in the group and this status was confirmed through qualifications. Since they changed the head coach, I think the team is better balanced, especially in the defence. They are already qualified, which is logical in view of the talents that are concentrated in the team.”
Do you think we can beat Belgium?
“We are more than capable to win this match, even if Belgium is a favourite. For this, it is necessary to have 23 players, technical staffs and supporters, all together with the same idea: that is a forcing to the limit, all 90 minutes, and even more, encouraging each other and with a strong desire to help those who have a problem. If all these elements are present, I am sure that tactics, technique and individual player qualities will do the rest.”
If you compare our team with the Belgian, in your opinion what are our strengths and what are our disadvantages?
“I do not like to compare teams, every game is different. We need to find their weak points, there are several, but of course I would not discuss them now.”
What would you say to Meša and the players?
“I want to win with all my heart, because I think players, technical staff and supporters deserve it. I will be at the stands because I want to give support to my team, be with them in this way. I’m sure that we have the quality necessary to get this match as long as we play with the heart and do our best.
I am with you, and I will cheer you from the stands!”
