A great friend of the Football Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a huge fan of our national team, and mayor of Zenica, Husein Smajlovic, died on Saturday after a long and hard illness.

In addition to the exceptional human qualities and proven organizational skills, Smajlovic was known as a passionate football and sports fan. He traveled many kilometers so he could support our team during important matches. He was very proud and happy that our best team qualified for the World Cup in Brazil after playing decisive games in his Zenica.

He always had understanding for FFBIH's activities and he sincerely supported all projects, especially the construction of the training center in Zenica and investments in the stadium Bilino Polje which became the true hub for football in our country.

Despite numerous commitments and everyday activities, Smajlovic always had time to discuss ideas about new football projects. Now, his successors and all who have loved him will have to finish those pending projects.

Huseijn Smajlovic's death is a big loss for his family, his friends, city of Zenica, and for all good people. FFBIH has lost a faithful friend, and a true and tireless football enthusiast who put his time, knowledge and energy to build a better future.

We would like to express our sincerest condolences his family, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.
