Bosnia and Herzegovina U-17 national football team lost the match against Republic of Ireland today in the second round of the European Under-17 Championship, which is being held in Croatia. After the game coach Sakib Malkocevic said:
"We managed to bounce back after the first match. The first half was a tie, but in the second we had the upper hand and we showed that we didn't come here by chance. We were presented with many opportunities, but unfortunately we couldn't even the score. From what we've shown on the pitch, my impression is that we didn't deserve a defeat. I'm sorry for the players because of the outcome, but still we're deservedly among the top 16 teams in Europe. In the end we didn't take advantage of the situation, the opponent did, and we have to congratulate them on the victory. I would be happy if we repeated today's game against Serbia. We want to win points in this competition, and we'll try to make that happen in the next match."
Nemanja Vjestica scored one goal for BiH team today, and he points out that our team is still in the game for the quarter-finals:
"We played well and I don't think we deserved to lose twice. Today's match was better than the first with Germany, but we couldn't get the ball in their goal. We gave our best, we created a lot of opportunities; it's a pity that we didn't end up with a draw at least. We're going to prepare for the match against Serbia and try to win, because that could get us in the quarter-finals if Germany is more successful than Ireland."
