After today's group drawing of qualifications for the European U-17 Championship, the head coach of our U-17 team, Sakib Malkočević, commented on Group 6 of the elite round:
“We got a very difficult group, but they are all like that. France and Austria won 9 points in the first round in their groups, and Denmark did 7, which means they did not lose during their qualifications. We are not favourites, but it is certain that we will give our utmost and try to make a surprise. They counted on us neither before, so we were twice at the final round of the EURO U-17. We have to prepare ourselves as better as possible and engage in the fight against high-quality opponents. Two friendly matches in late February or early March would be very welcomed, in order to be better prepared for the tournament.”
Malkočević says on the qualifying group for the European U-17 Championship 2018/19, where the BH team will have for its opponents Ukraine, Iceland and Gibraltar:
“The mini-tournament in October will be held in our country, and we were also seeded in the draw. Therefore, we must accept the role of the favourite. Both Ukrainians and we certainly are. We have no right to underestimate anyone, but we hope to qualify to the elite round once more. Of course, before us is just getting to know the generation that will participate in these qualifiers and with time we will have a much clearer picture of this team.”
