Bosnia and Herzegovina's top goal scorer in the UEFA European Women's Championship qualifying with five goals, Milena Nikolic, has found a new club. After playing in Masinac (Nis) and Spartak (Subotica) football clubs for the past six years, Nikolic has signed for Sportclub Sand FC who finished ninth in the German Championship this year, and took second place in the National Cup last year.
Our national team member is satisfied with the time she spent in Spartak, but she's also ready for a new challenge: "After six years I spent in Serbia, it was time to continue my career outside the Balkans. I've achieved great results with Spartak, and in addition to the Championship and Cup titles, I was named best scorer of the Champions League as well as the best female player of 2015 in Serbia.
I had several offers, but I decided to sign for Sand. I didn't want to pass up the opportunity to play in one of the best leagues in the world and thus improve myself. It's nearly time to go to Germany and start preparing and I look forward to that day. I'm ready for challenges and temptations that await me there. I'll give my best to earn my place in the team and help them reach the top."
This twenty-three year old didn't forget her last team: "First of all I'd like to thank my family and friends for the immense support, and WFC Spartak for their trust and wonderful time while I was there. I wish them best of luck and to continue with the great results."
Nikolic also commented on the national team's results: "We can be happy with our performance during the qualifying. We have one more game left against Serbia, which I believe we'll win and keep the third place in our group."
