The only goal in this friendly match was scored by Hugo Ayala at the 65th minute.
Already in the first minute, Giovani Dos Santos missed a good chance for Mexico when he shot from the right-hand side near the goal. The same player had a chance in the 6th minute, but Šehić defended.
After a corner kick in the 10th minute, Goran Zakarić tried from a distance, but the ball passed close to the goal post. Five minutes later, Stjepan Lončar tried with a head shot after a pass of Zakarić, but he was not precise.
At the finish of the first half, Mersudin Ahmetović shot from twenty meters, but sent the ball beside the goal.
Mexico also opens the second half with its chance, when Carlos Vela hits the outside of the net.
The Mexicans next chance turned to the score. After the corner kick, Ayala was the highest in a jump and sent the ball by head behind the back of Kenan Pirić.
By the end of the game, the pace of the game fell and the result was not changed. In the 83rd minute, Almir Bekić received a second card due to the withdrawal, so our team finished the match with one player less.
At the press conference after the match, the head coach Robert Prosinečki stated:
“The guys gave their utmost. Mexico is an excellent national team. I am satisfied with the game, especially in the first half. The struggle, the running and the effort were extraordinary. In the second half, the fatigue appeared, but the players did their best. The overall impression is very good, young players justified the invitation to the national team at this tour.”
