A well-known person in the technical staff of our team is Nijaz Mulahmetović. A long-time national player and a captain of the BH futsal team will have a new role in the upcoming qualifications, the assistant of the head coach Ivo Krezo.
Popular “Cuni” draws a parallel between the obligations he had as a player and now when he is a coach:
“For many years now, my futsal career has been linked to a national team I am extremely proud of, since the national team is a crown to every player’s career. Looking from this perspective, I am still under the impression of playing for our national team, and I am getting used to the new role and I’m trying to be as more professional as I played with the majority of the current players, and now I’m on the “other side”. As a player I always gave the maximum, and now I do the same as a coach. I am trying to help the futsal team, but also to every player in every respect. Each role has its own charm and weight. I thought it was the most difficult to the players, but only now I see the responsibility of the coach. As a player, you end up with obligations at the end of the match, but coaches only start with their job, because they follow the analysis, prepare for the next match and have many other obligations.”
Mulahmetović expects a good result in the upcoming qualifications:
“The futsal team is in the preliminary round, which has not been the case so far, but we must accept it and with good results ensure the return to the main round where is our real place. These are tournaments that can serve as very good checks for the next stage of the competition, but they can also be counterproductive, if we do not have a good and professional approach. After a long time, we will have the opportunity to play official qualifying matches and I hope that we will have all the players at our disposal. Given that we are the bearers of the group, we need to accept the role of the favourite and that the qualification in the next stage of the competition should not be in question. Of course, this has to be proved on the ground and we will do our best to reach our goal.”
The young expert also commented on opponents in group F, the teams of Scotland, Turkey and Switzerland:
“Looking at the matches played by our opponents, the most important of all will be our approach to the matches against them. If we were to line them in quality, I think that the Turkish futsal team is most prominent and that the match against them will be for the first place in the group. In the matches against Switzerland and Scotland, I think we are absolute favourites. Again, I repeat, all this has to be proved on the ground and I do not doubt that the guys will give their maximum and work in the best possible way.”
Nijaz Mulahmetović believes that the futsal team of Bosnia and Herzegovina can reach a big competition:
“I always thought that the reach of the futsal team was greater than the results, and now I’m also thinking that. If there were more investment, a more professional relationship, and in some cases more happiness, I’m sure we would play at a big competition. There was simply too much improvisation to achieve such a thing. We surely have perspective, as well as individual quality, and now all the other factors should be necessary integrated to make a success like going to the big competition. Organisation should be risen to a higher level, a base of players who have the quality to play for the futsal team should be expanded, plans and analyses should be also made... These are all things that must be settled, if the result is to be achieved. I sincerely hope that we will finally win a big competition, because if not, I would not be here at all.”
At the end, Mulahmetović talks about the newly-formed U-19 futsal team:
“The junior team was formed almost from nothing, but in this short period it has been shown to have certain quality. We played matches against high quality opponents and we can be satisfied with the seen. Individuals drew attention to themselves and if they develop as players in the right direction, we can very quickly expect them in the “A” futsal team.”
The futsal team will prepare for the tournament in Zenica on 25th January, and the first match against Switzerland in the Zenica Arena is scheduled for 29.01.2019 at 20:00 h.
