The first chance had the home team, when C. J. Sapong tried from the edge of the penalty area, but Ibrahim Šehić managed to throw the ball to a corner.
Luka Menalo made a superb strike in the 29th minute with a shot straight in the opponent penalty area toward Mersudin Ahmetović, but the USA defenders reacted in front of our attacker and eliminated the danger. Goran Zakarić also tried in the 41st minute from the right, but the ball went over the goal bar of Bill Hamid.
The best chance in the first half had Menalo in the 43rd minute. Our attacker took the ball from the American defence players seven meters from the goal, but his shot was well defended by the goalkeeper Hamid.
USA had a great chance in the 51st minute. Cristian Roldan played to Jordan Morris, who came out in front of Šehić and shot beside the goal.
Just a minute later, Walker Zimmerman made a foul over Menalo in his penalty area and the referee showed on the white spot. Responsibility from 11 meters was taken by our team's captain in this match, Haris Medunjanin, but he hits the goal post.
After Matt Polster's shot in the 60th minute, Cristian Roldan from a decent position sent the ball past beside the right post of the Šehić's goal.
Agile Menalo was giving a lot of problems to defenders of the United States. This attacker won a chance in the 65th minute, but his shot from the edge of the penalty area was defended by Zackary Steffen.
Ognjen Todorović passed on the left side in the 73rd minute, but he was blocked and the ball was bounced to Elvir Koljić who shot over the goal bar.
Till the end of the match, both national teams had several attempts, but the result was not changed.
After finishing the match, Robert Prosinečki stated: “I am satisfied with the game that the boys showed tonight. They presented character and, after a missed penalty, they continued to play openly. During that period, we created a lot of opportunities. We definitely saw many positive things of this team tonight.”
The national team of BH will play another friendly match with Mexico in San Antonio in three days.
