SARAJEVO, 17.05.2022 - The fifth ever organized world tour of the original FIFA trophy, which will tour 51 countries to inspire and share magic with male and female fans around the world, for the second time includes the arrival of the Trophy in Sarajevo.
The FIFA World Cup™ Trophy will be on display at the Sarajevo City Hall on 17th and 18th May, and the Coca-Cola Corner will be available on the plateau across from the City Hall, with a number of activation programs prepared by FIFA and Coca-Cola.
After the unveiling of the FIFA trophy, Adnan Džemidžić, the BH FF general secretary, stated:
“We are overjoyed that our citizens will also have the opportunity to see and take photos with this valuable trophy, and to somehow feel the spirit of the World Cup and all the wonderful ambience that this game brings. The BH FF is proud to participate in the organization of this beautiful event.”
The trophy arrived accompanied by Gilbert Silva and Faruk Hadžibegić, ambassadors of the FIFA World Cup™ Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola.
“It is a great honour to come to Sarajevo for the first time and be part of this great story with Coca-Cola in which we give young people the opportunity to be inspired live with the most important football trophy in the world”, said Gilberto Silva, the ambassador of the FIFA World Cup™ Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola.
“It is a great honour for me to be an ambassador at such an important event as the FIFA World Cup™ Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola. It is my pleasure to speak on behalf of all those for whom football is the most important side-line, but also for all sports fans”, said Faruk Hadžibegić, former head coach of the BH national team.
How to get closer to the trophy?
The FIFA World Cup™ Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola is a great opportunity for people to get into a piece of football history and share their passion for the sport, and that someone can be you.
To “win” the opportunity to approach the Trophy and take pictures with it, you need to participate in the activities that FIFA and Coca-Cola have prepared for you at the Coca-Cola Corner, on the plateau across from the City Hall.
About the FIFA World Cup™ Trophy
The original FIFA trophy is awarded to the World Cup winners, but remains the property of FIFA.
The national team that won the trophy, as the winner of the World Cup, temporarily retains the authentic trophy, and then it is permanently awarded a gilded replica, so not real gold, with an engraved year, host country and event winner.
The original trophy is made of pure gold and weighs 6.142 kg, and was made as a composition of two human figures holding a globe above them.
The current design of the Original Trophy dates back to 1974. As one of the world’s most recognized sports symbols and an invaluable icon, the Original FIFA Trophy can only be touched and held by a very select group of people, including former World Cup winners and heads of state.
This year’s FIFA Trophy travel mission is to create climate-positive experiences through the practice of best sustainability practices. In addition to the City Hall, Coca-Cola Corner will set up separate waste collection containers on both days, to continue the practice of educating citizens and raising awareness of the need for separate waste collection and recycling, with a special focus on plastic packaging.
