Football Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with the FBiH Association of Sports Journalists, is organizing a football event titled "Tirana and Maracana", after Bosnia and Herzegovina national "A" football team's debut in a friendly match against Albania, which was played on November 30th 1995 in Tirana. Two teams also played another friendly game the following year, on December 18th 1996 in Brazil.
This year's event will start with an exhibition game at the KSC Skenderija sports hall in Sarajevo on Saturday, December 17th at 18:00 hours. The lineup will consist of players who originally capped for national "A" team, along with former head coaches Fuad Muzurovic and Miso Smajlovic.
All proceeds from the tickets (the price per ticket is 5,00 KM) will go to the Institution for Special Education and Care of Children "Mjedenica" Sarajevo. After the game, participants and guests will attend a nice get-together.
By gathering former players and staff, FFBIH wants to show the respect to all of those who participated in the creation of our best national team. Friendlies in Tirana and Manaus are very important part of our team's history, in fact, they represent the foundations on which the future of Bosnian football was built upon. The national team has been gradually progressing through official rankings since then, and in the mean time achieved notable results. Participation in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil was the success of a persistent continuity and long-term efforts of all involved generations.
