FFBIH executive board, coach Safet Susic and tehnical director Denijal Piric held an emergency meeting today in Sarajevo.
This comes only a day after unfortunate defeat by Israel with 3:0 in Euro qualifying match. The situation is critical because the results are far from earlier predictions, therefore exco members found it was necessary to analyse the current situation and find the most appropriate solution as soon as possible.
Coach Susic filed his report on what has been done in the qualifications so far, and even pointed out he believes the team can make it to Euro despite winning only two points.
After some discussion, and taking into account what has been done in the first four qualifying games, the board decided that:
- After reviewing the results, the board thinks the ultimate goal, 2016 Euro in France, has been severely jeopardized;
- Coach Safet Susic and his assistants Borce Sredojevic, Elvir Baljic and Tomislav Piplica have been relieved of their duties;
- Vice president Ivan Beus, general secretary Jasmin Bakovic and board member Nurudin Pestalic will determine FFBIH's rights and obligations towards Susic and vice versa;
- The newly appointed committee, consisting of president Elvedin Begic, vice presidents Ivan Beus and Darko Ljubojevic, tech director Denijal Piric, and mediation board member Sead Kajtaz, have to come up with Susic's replacement by December 1st.
FFBIH wishes to thank former coach Safet Susic and his assistants for their cooperation and for making it possible for our team to play at the 2014 World Cup.
