After today's defeat in the finals by Slovakia, Bosnia and Herzegovina women's national "A" football team finished the Istria Cup in the second place.
Coach Samira Hurem: "We didn't expect to achieve such a good result because the tournament was very good and strong, and also because it was our first gathering this year. However, the players were serious and performed beyond excellent. We were better than Slovakia in the finals, and if we had a more diverse team, I'm sure we would have won the first place. The experience we gained here will certainly benefit us in the next qualifying cycle.
Unfortunately, we couldn't count on Alisa Spahic and Marija Aleksic today due to injuries, but younger players have shown quality and proved they can be seriously considered in the future. We maybe lacked a bit of experience to win the finals, but we've achieved a good result nevertheless."
On their way to the finals, Bosnia and Herzegovina's team beat France (2-0) and Hungary (also 2-0), played a draw with Croatia (0-0), and only in the finals they lost to Slovakia (0-2).
