Bosnia and Herzegovina women's national "A" football team and WFC SFK 2000 Sarajevo head coach Samira Hurem was named the best coach of 2016 according to the "Nezavisne novine" newspaper and BHRT (Radio-Television of the Bosnia and Herzegovina). She was given this award last night at an event held at the hotel Holiday in Sarajevo.

As a coach, Hurem achieved outstanding results with the Bosnian national team, while SFK 2000 qualified for the 1/16th finals of the UEFA Women's Champions League this year, where it was stopped by Rossiyanka (Russia).

Handball player Mirsad Terzic was declared the best male athlete, while Ivona Cavar (karate) was chosen as a best female athlete. The best sports team is the BiH Davis Cup team.
