Category: News

WFC SFK 2000 Sarajevo has won the 2016/17 championship title

Points wise, WFC SFK 2000 Sarajevo has won the 2016/17 championship title earlier in the season, however they officially confirmed it today after defeating Iskra Bugojno 3-0 in the final round of the Women's Premier League, making it their 20th victory in a row with an impressive goal difference of 145-2.

SFK 2000 coach Samira Hurem didn't hide her excitement after the new success:

"I congratulate my players, they are the most responsible for this success. We wanted that fifteenth title, I'm glad we had such a good season, and we'll continue to work in the same way. I'd like to thank FFBIH and FK Sarajevo and all those who helped us to be here."

After the game, player Azra Numanovic said:

"It's our fifteenth title and I think it's an amazing success. A lot of work and effort throughout all these years bears results. Many say that we don't have any competition, but this is simply not true. Hard work and daily training sessions are the foundations of our success. That's why we dominate in domestic competitions, and the results we've achieved in Europe show that we're on the right path. Congratulations to all teams that participated in Women's Premier League this year, the progress is really visible and we look forward to next season."

After the match, FFBIH general secretary Jasmin Bakovic and sports department executive director Elmir Pilav awarded the winners with trophies and medals.

SFK 2000 will represent Bosnia and Herzegovina at the UEFA Women's Champions League, while Modrica and Mladost Poljavnice will drop out of the league next season.
