The new office building of the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been officially opened today in Sarajevo.

UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin and President of the Football Association of BiH Elvedin Begić uncovered the postament and officially opened the “Home of Football”.

Elvedin Begić welcomed the present guests and among other things said the following:

“In recent years we have recovered our credibility and stability, a significant improvement was achieved which was rewarded in the sports sense both last week, through a placement of the A National Team in the highest ranks of the Nations League competition, and today, through the official opening of the Home of Football.”

The President also thanked the representatives of regional associations and added the following:

“The support we have from the umbrella organizations FIFA and UEFA means a lot to us and we will not let their expectations and trust down. We leave this building to generations behind us as a testimony of times of good and transparent management, times of reforms and changes, success, courage and existence of vision.”

Aleksander Čeferin also spoke to the guests.

“It is a privilege and pleasure for me to be here today. I am glad that Bosnia and Herzegovina will be richer for one new sports facility. This is a great step in the development of football in your country. An important task has been completed and the whole world is admiring the placement of the BiH ‘A’ Team in the elite ranks of the Nations League, as it is admiring the great players such as Edin Džeko and Miralem Pjanić“, said the UEFA President and continued:

“Many forget how everything started and very few associations had such a difficult starting position like the Football Association of BiH, but you caught up with the elite, all thanks to a dedicated work. The success came also because of the quality work done with the younger categories of players. BiH is among the leaders when it comes to the number of tournaments organized for younger generations, and the placement of the ‘U-17’ Team to the European Championship three consecutive times serves as an attest to such quality work. ”

Čeferin said UEFA will continue providing support to the Association in its work:

“You have the talent, perspective great management and talented players, but a bad infrastructure as well. We spoke about this with the representatives of government during our last visit. Football teaches us to have a team work and without unity this would not be possible. UEFA will continue to be a reliable partner to the Football Association of BiH and I hope that the future projects will be directed towards the infrastructure development.”

The opening ceremony was attended by a number of officials from FIFA, UEFA, regional football associations, BiH football, but also by high political leadership, among which a member of the BiH Presidency Šefik Džaferović, as well as Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdić.
