The head coach of “A” national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mehmed Baždarević, said at the press conference after the end of the match with Estonia:
“Pretty tough game. The Estonians did not want to open the game, but they waited for our mistakes and tried with counterattacks to threaten us. We had patience and the guys did a good job. I'm glad that the young players, who got the chance, justified the expectations. It could be better, but I'm glad we won. Regarding Estonia, we knew they were a solid team, but we were expecting them to play more openly, not just with counterattacks and long balls.”
Baždarević replied to the question of his future on the bench of the national team:
“As you know, we have a contract until the end of qualifications, and they are over. We'll analyse everything. What's going to be at this moment, I have no answer. I'm happy to win tonight, but I'm not happy that we did not achieve what we wanted. We did everything to go to the FIFA World Cup, but also to create young players. We played some games very well, some were not on the level, but we were not complete very often. There are good things too and I do not worry about the future of this national team. The biggest disappointment is that we did not qualify for the play-off. I have a lot of energy; I am happy to have done this and will be even happier if I continue to work.”
