One of the players with the highest number performances in the BH national team, Zvjezdan Misimović, recently became the advisor of the FF BH Executive Committee on football issues. For Misimović , “Operation Belgium” began immediately after the match with Gibraltar:

“We are considering a match against Belgium for a long time in the Federation, which is the most important match for us in these qualifications. As far as I’m concerned, I have to admit that I am not so much nervous, because I know that we will do everything to ensure that players are fully prepared and have excellent working conditions.”

In his national team career, Misimović played several similar matches, which decided on the qualification of our national team in big competitions. Regardless the strength of Belgium, the popular “Miske” has a formula for success:

“First of all, we have to be a team; we have to show a common spirit; all of us must breathe as one. We all know which players play for Belgium, but our national team has great individuals. If we look at the positions, then they have the advantage, they have a great team. We have to give our maximum, play one for the other and with the help of the spectators, which can be crucial in such matches to reach a victory.”

How important is a team spirit and a faith in success, we felt on our skin against Cyprus. As Misimović says, that game should be a good experience for our match with Belgium:

“Cyprus showed us how the team can return to the match even if it loses 2:0. They showed how a team spirit can replace a quality, because we were a much better national team than them. They showed us what it means when you subordinate everything to the collective.”

For the first time our “A” national team will play a qualifying match at the Grbavica Stadium. According to Misimović, a playing at Grbavica should be an additional motive for our players:

“I know that much has been done at the Grbavica Stadium and there is no doubt that it will be a great atmosphere. I hope that the weather will serve us too and that the field will be in a good condition. Playing at “Grbavica” should not be a burden for our players. Furthermore, I think it should be an additional motive for all of us, because after a long time we are playing again in Sarajevo. I am glad that this is “Grbavica”, because there is a real football atmosphere there. I am sure that the fans’ support will not be missing, so all of these should be factors that go to our benefit. We all know how this match is important to us, and I am sure we will have the support from the first-to-last minute.”

Misimović has until recently shared a dressing room with almost all players currently playing for the national team. As he says, he can promise on behalf of them that they will certainly not disappoint and will give their maximum, but if that will be enough to win Belgium, remains to be seen:

“What I can promise fans is that we, all together, will give our maximum. For me, the most important is that after the game we can look each other into eyes, no matter of the result. It is important that we in the Federation, the players, the fans, know that we have done everything to win, but will it be enough to win Belgium, remains to be seen. If we are not destined to win, the most important for me will be that fans recognize our desire and that they could not blame our efforts. Football is the most popular sport, because some things could not be predicted. I hope that we will rejoice after all and that we will celebrate together the great victory at Grbavica.”
